James W. “Jim” Stuehringer represents clients in a full range of personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice cases in trial and appellate courts throughout the state of Arizona.
In Jim’s high-profile criminal defense practice he counsels accused people from all walks of life, including physicians, professional athletes, clergy members, local business owners, and young adults. He also advises individuals in cases involving vehicular homicide, child abuse, white collar crime, violent crime, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Criminal defense work requires an attorney who has compassion for his clients, good rapport with the prosecutor, and the zeal of a tested advocate in the courtroom. Jim’s record reflects these qualities. For example, he received a successful verdict for his client in the noted “Pizza Hut” triple murder case of 2006.
Representing injury victims against wrongdoers, Jim’s civil litigation practice covers a variety of matters, including wrongful death, personal injury, and medical practice cases. In one wrongful death case involving a ten-year-old boy, he helped his client win what was at the time the highest-ever verdict award in Pima County, Arizona. Other clients include the City of Tucson, which he guides in varied matters, including construction defect and civil rights cases. He also represents physicians before the Arizona Medical Board.
Jim serves as Judge Pro Tem for the Pima County Superior Court and has taught trial practice at the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law. Jim was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2015 in the fields of Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiff, Criminal Defense: Non-White-Collar, and Criminal Defense – White-Collar.
