John Kendall

John Kendall

John D. Kendall’s primary area of practice is to counsel clients in complex estate planning matters, including a broad range of estate, gift, individual and fiduciary income and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, in order carefully to integrate these critical areas of tax planning with each client’s unique circumstances and personal goals. As part of such planning, John also assists clients in assuring proper integration of retirement and other qualified plan assets, to assure maximum advantage of this unique and increasingly substantial asset class for his clients as well as multi-generational planning for future generations.

Since understanding the issues and important aspects of both pre- and post-death planning is critical for any estate planner, John’s practice also includes representing clients as trustees and personal representatives in the administration of trusts and probate estates, including all aspects of post-death administration and related tax matters.

In his nonprofit practice, John represents and advises clients in the formation, qualification and on-going operation of private foundations and charitable trusts as well as the negotiation and implementation of charitable giving vehicles with existing public charities such as donor advised funds, scholarships and other endowments.

John receives an AV® rating by Martindale Hubbell’s peer review system, its highest rating for ethics and professional competence. Following law school, John served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Joe W. Contreras of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division I, after which he joined the firm’s trust and estate practice as a full time attorney in 1986.
