D. Michael Mandig
Title: Of Counsel
Michael Mandig represents clients in a broad litigation practice encompassing many types of disputes. Trying court and jury trials to verdict and judgment in state and federal courts, he defends engineering and architecture firms against malpractice claims, pursues complex construction claims against private and government defendants, and advises in antitrust and franchise termination litigation for companies.
Fluent in written and spoken Spanish, Michael regularly handles Mexico-related matters, such as international commercial transactions involving the production of fruits and vegetables. He helps resolve troubled Mexican real estate investments and advises U.S. clients concerning Mexican joint venture and similar opportunities. He also assists nonprofit organizations conducting humanitarian and religious projects in Mexico, and advises a leading Mexican daily newspaper concerning its US reporting and distribution operations.
Michael has extensive experience in international litigation and international commercial matters including commercial product liability, agricultural financing, produce distribution, motor vehicle financing, real estate investment, international insolvency, cyber-squatting, corporate malfeasance, money laundering and international asset tracing.
Michael handles financial fraud and money laundering cases, real estate cases, escrow and title insurance claims, and trade name, trademark, and trade secret issues. In addition, he litigates claims arising in closely-held corporations and real estate investment partnerships.
In addition to his regular legal practice, Michael has worked since 1992 on law reform projects in Latin America, where he has taught oral advocacy and case management skills to thousands of lawyers and judges in Mexico, Central and South America.
